Solve Endless Proxy Loop
This problem that I am going to share with you here is the CE-33986-9, which is also known as ‘endless proxy loop’. You can also check how to use a proxy server or how to configure DNS for ps4 to get more information on this error. So what you have to do solve this endless proxy loop problem in your ps4 console is to do FOllowing things.
- First, Get over to the PS4 Menu XrossMediaBar (XMB).
- After you are at the XMB, you need to scroll right to the Settings, then to Network and then you need to click on “Set Up Internet Connection”.
- There you will have to select either WiFi or wired LAN cable. Since you had the problem while connecting to your WiFi, you’d want to choose WiFi in this option.
- After you select WiFi, you need to select ‘Custom’ and then you have to select the Wi-Fi network.
- You will see a field where you will have to enter the password of your Wi-Fi network. If you are already using that WiFi on your PS4, the password would be automatically saved and you won’t have to enter it again.
- After entering the password, you need to select ‘Automatic’ in the IP Address Settings.
- You shouldn’t use the DHCP Host Name and you have to select ‘Manual’ in the DNS Settings that you see there.
- In the DNS settings, you can enter the following servers in Primary DNS and Secondary DNS fields:
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 and Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 - After you set the DNS, you should click ‘Next’ and select ‘Automatic’ in the MTU Settings. You shouldn’t use any Proxy Servers there.
- After you follow all these instructions, you are finally done. Now, you have one thing left to do.
- You need to Test Internet Connection.
- If it still didn’t work, you can try the following servers in the DNS Settings:
Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222 and Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220

Use a Wired Lan Cable
If you still cannot connect to the wifi and access your internet via wifi connection then the better alternative will be a LAN connection cable. A LAN cable is a far more suitable and better alternative to wifi as it will give you a better internet connection and less lag while playing PlayStation 4 games than a wifi connection. Also using ethernet cable can increase your download speed drastically so using a Lan cable can be a good substitute if your PS4 won’t connect to WiFi.

Restart Your Playstation And Router
Sometimes restarting up the device or router can be the best way to solve PS4 won’t connect to WiFi error. Here it is 01/11/19 and the above mentioned steps didn’t work for mine. And its brand new just came in the mail yesterday. It was shipped with 6.0.2 and the steps above didn’t work. Updated it to 6.2.0 and nothing yet again. Same error every time regardless of if I try wifi or lan

I did all these steps and it still won’t connect. I can’t use a lan cable because it’s a family wifi router and my mam usually works from home. My internet works on my phone and laptop and all the other devices in the house but not the ps4. And yes I did check for any new updates for games and the system. 1/2/19
you tried using mobile hotspot too? If that’s the case then you should contact your isp and say them to change your ip address if you can do it.
If the above DNS don’t work, one that worked for mine is primary 4.2.2.1 and secondary 4.2.2.6
Haven’t seen those except for one place. It worked and gave me the wifi speeds I needed. The others made my wifi work but only gave me 400kbs on a 400mb internet connection. Lol.

Came online and ps4 got the endless proxy loop despite nothing changing on my network. Set the DNS numbers suggest. Not only did it work, but I went from NAT type 3 to type 2. You’re a good kid.

Brand new PS4 opened last weekend. I have tried everything listed above and on other websites but still cant connect. I have a Xbox One, Xbox 360, and a Wii all in the same location and they connect fine with now issues. I use an extender in the room so every device including the PS4 shows 100% signal strength. I’m about to take this POS back to Game Stop and get my money back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey there i live in rural Ireland so internet here is nearly non existent.I signed up to virgin media unlimited on my mobile & want to use my iphone hotspot on my PS4 pro to play online.
Ive tried for a couple of hours now to connect & it keeps saying cannot connect to wifi network within time given.Ive tried manually entering the ip address etc & it says failed to find ip address etc.I did a speed test of my phones internet & its 89mbps download & 25mbps upload.Can anyone help me please?

We have this problem. I am watching shows on my PS4 and suddenly it wont connect to the internet. I restored to default settings and it still will not connect. We swapped out our Modem/Router combo. The PS4 worked for a day and then we have the same problems. Now, my wifi speed is supposed to be around 300 but sometimes it is only around 120. I am wondering if this is the issue, that the damn internet company is purposefully reducing the download speeds so that we will buy the next package. Now, here’s the twist. My computer wifi is working fine, but I cannot access Hulu or Vudu there as well.

Ok just yesterday I was online on my ps4 using my hotspot from my iPad. My son also used his hotspot yesterday at a different time. Today neither of us could connect using the WiFi hotspots. They work on other devices….just the dang ps4 is being a pain. Explain that! Sounds like he WiFi card?
